Salé, 29 January 1944. Khnata Ronda is remembered as a woman of courage, linked to the national uprising and to the Moroccan flag carried at the head of the procession. The association bearing her name keeps this legacy alive and connects it with practical action for women and future generations.

A woman, a memory, a legacy.

Khnata Ronda is linked to Morocco’s national struggle for independence. Her name reminds us that women took part, with courage, in the history of the nation.

The association bearing her name preserves this memory and connects it with practical action: women’s autonomy, health, education and employment.

Her story in three moments.

  1. Rabat · Salé

    Her origins

Born into the Ronda family of Rabat, of Andalusian descent, she settled in Salé after marrying El Amri, a merchant of the city.

  3. Today

    A memory to pass on

The association collects, preserves and shares the testimonies and documents that shed light on her life.

Why an association?

Preserving memory also means passing on values and opening possibilities for the future. The association exists for three reasons.

  1. Preserve

a memory that must not fade.

  2. Pass on

    values to young generations.

  3. Act

    for women’s autonomy, today.

Our work: supporting autonomy
